At the Emma Parrish Theater, an unlikely cast of characters, who hail from the natural and supernatural worlds, will come to life in "Who Loves Judas?" the premiere comedy of local playwright Dane Dakota.
Shows are at 8 tonight and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday and 8 p.m. Feb. 15 and 16.
Because of its relatively small cast of six and its adult themes, the play will be performed in Emma's Attic, Titusville's black box theater.
Located on the second floor of the theater, the attic provides a forum for artists with new work and artists with work that appeals to a more eclectic audience.
Director Ashley Bauer said she would rate the play a mild PG-13.
"Judas" in the title refers to the betrayer of biblical infamy.
The plot's twists and turns are described on the Titusville Playhouse's Web site.
"Julia, an ambitious young bank officer, and Alex, her artist husband, invite Julia's stuffy boss and his bizarre wife to dinner. Before the older couple arrives, the flashy Katrina, a friend of the hostess and a supposedly recovering prostitute, shows up and stays for dinner. The ghost of Judas appears to seek forgiveness and to advise Alex on how to avoid life's pitfalls. But Alex has his own ideas and no one turns out to be who they seem."
Dakota said the play is a "dark comedy that I wrote to explore the nature of human behavior."
"What does it really mean to live, love and to care for other people when they have turned on us?"
Although tickets have been sold out for the opening night, tickets are available for other performances.
