On stage and off, Nashville Repertory Theatre employs more than 100 local people annually to bring its work to fruition. In addition to full-time positions, there are also opportunities for internships and auditions with Nashville Rep.
Employment Opportunities
Props Artisan
Purpose: To work in cooperation with each show’s director and creative team to fulfill the artistic vision by providing functioning and artistically appropriate props.
Duties:
To create and/or procure hand props
Create and or procure hand props, furniture pieces, and/or specialty items for each show
Puling props from storage
Maintain our props storage area and maintaining organization of storage
Shopping for props
Do research as needed for specialty props
Provide research for directors on prop designs and looks
Provide set dressing
Maintain ongoing communication with the Head of Design, the Artistic Director, the Technical Director, Production Manager, and the director of the show regarding status and progress of props designs
Attending production meetings
Attending rehearsals as needed
Create and provide a current hand and set props list
Pull hand prop “do-fers” for use in rehearsals in the absence of the actual items, and work with
Stage Manager to provide any necessary set props/furniture “do-fers” as required
Responsible for the load-in and strike of props, working in cooperation with the Technical Director & Production Manager
Responsible for adherence to props budget and deadlines
Create and maintain budget paperwork and adhere to deadlines and budget given by the Production Manager
Assist the rentals manager with props rentals
Work with rentals manager to coordinate rentals of props. Helping assist in pick-up and drop-off of props.
Qualifications:
High degree of creativity
Ability to self-manage time and budget to determine the optimal method of providing props (purchase, creation or procurement)
Research skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in major office software suites
Compensation:
The minimum salary will be $38,000 annually, negotiable depending on experience. The benefit package includes options of health, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus paid time off and vacation pay.

Theatre Apprenticeship Program
The Nashville Repertory Theatre Apprenticeship Program is committed to training future generations of Nashville theater professionals. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals who have already acquired strong basic training and expertise in the theater arts and are looking to explore their field further through meaningful hands-on experience. Previous experience could include educational, community/semi-professional theatre, and/or other professional theatre settings.
Apprenticeship FAQs:
Pay is $1,500 for each position
Hours vary based on the department.
Some apprenticeships require being able to commit to full rehearsal schedules, such as apprentice directors and stage managers.
Apprentices will be allowed to participate in regular production meetings prior to the beginning of rehearsals.
